Employee Spotlight: Rob Kroeger

At i3 Commerce Technology, we pride ourselves on having the best employees in the industry, and this quarter, we want to feature our VP of Operations, Rob Kroeger.

As VP of Operations at i3 Commerce Technology, Rob is responsible for the operations and customer service teams. He ensures that we provide the best products, solutions, and customer service to all our customers and prospects.

Rob began his career in the payments industry as a co-op at i3 Commerce Technology in 2006. Since then, he has grown into his current position as VP of Operations. Rob has a Computer Science Degree from the University of Cincinnati.

We also had a Q&A session with Rob. Here’s what he had to say.

Q. What motivates you to wake up and go to work every day?

A. “Besides some of the more obvious answers, I’d say the excitement of solving new challenges every day. Working with the operations and service side of the business, we deal with unique challenges that push our team to be better. I’ve always enjoyed working on brain teasers and puzzles, so this aspect of work always piques my interest.”

Q. What is your favorite part about working at i3 Commerce Technology?

A.  “The culture at i3 Commerce Technology is unique. Our organization has grown considerably from when I started, but we still have the feel of a small business. We take our work seriously, but i3 Commerce Technology makes sure to provide opportunities to have some fun through our teambuilding activities. In many ways, it is the close-knit nature of our team and the ability to connect to others on a personal level that drives our successes.”

Q. How have you grown during your time at i3 Commerce Technology?

A.  “I started here as a co-op student nearly 15 years ago, and my path has traversed many different facets of this business over the years. I never sought out the payments industry, perhaps not even realizing it existed, until I walked through i3 Commerce Technology’ doors but have grown to love the opportunities it presents daily. Our industry continues to evolve with technology at the forefront, which is where my true passion exists.”

Q. What does true leadership mean to you?

A.  “I will say the best leaders I have seen are the ones that lead by example. Actions always speak more volumes than words alone. Finding empathy to understand one another, adapting to our rapidly changing work and personal environments, and living up to what we want our ourselves and organizations to represent are examples of leadership to me. Every day we are presented with ample opportunities to be great leaders.”

Q. What is your hidden talent?

A.  “I’m not sure I search out my hidden talents, but I guess one is my ability to turn my kids’ tantrums into moments of laughter. Overcoming that frustration for a moment of silliness that makes a kid’s scream turn to laughter is a moment of pure joy for both me and my kids.”
